WELDING BURNER WITH HOLLOW CATHODE CONTROLLED BY MAGNETIC FIELD

Meant for vacuum welding and soldering wares, manufactured  from chemically active and refractory alloys  

Fields of application:

  • Welding
  • Soldering  shaped parts with complex configuration and various thickness
  • Strengthening and reclaiming contact surfaces on parts by building-up in vacuum
  • Due wide range of working parameters, low overall dimensions and exception traditional elements from operating system burner can be used for welding and soldering in conditions of  space

Design features

In basis of the burner - electric arc device with expendable hollow cathode, controlled by magnetic field. In the first time was used local magnetic field, oriented perpendicular to axis of cathode for non dissipation discharge parameters operating.

Advantages:

  • Wide range of welding current with minimal consumption of working gas (Ar)  (200 time smaller then in traditional Argon-arc welding under normal pressure)
  • Smooth adjustment of effective power of discharge and  smooth heat flow on anode (part) out under using low voltage welding equipment
  • High quality of welded seam under concerning low requirement for vacuum system

Realization:

Technology already developed. We have several working samples. Our burner already used for welding fuel tanks for space rockets on NPO "Yujnoe". Rockets with fuel tanks welded by our burner using in "Sea Launch" project. We are looking for partners for cooperation.
